Marcus Garvey bust at UWI replaced

The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona has honoured its commitment to replace the bust of National Hero Marcus Garvey, but supporters of the renowned Pan-Africanist are still not pleased. Complaints voiced on social media include the bust not resembling Garvey, the expression not being serious as Garvey was known to be, but rather “sad, broken, defeated and spoilt”. Earlier this year Pan Africanists and member of the United Negro Improvement Association, which Garvey founded, engaged in a head-on dispute with UWI over the original bust created to honour Garvey.
